OLCC 168 all out - Incogniti 169 for 2 - Incogniti win by 8 wickets
Match Report
Both teams assembled on time, more or less, in hope rather than expectation
of a fixture. At 11am the drizzle was falling, the covers on and the
outfield wet. The covers were removed, and then replaced before an early
lunch was called.
By the close of lunch the rain had relented, the outfield
had started to dry and the OLCC were sent in to bat against the 10 man
Incogs. The familiar stride of Scantlebury coming in from the New Hall End
kept a tight line and scoring strokes were few and far between during a
spell of 6 consecutive maidens and the early wicket of Tom Scrase senior who
nibbled at one that left him. There was a little more change out of the
quicker, but less accurate, antipodean (Baker) from the New Reckitt End and
progress was steady.
Wickets fell at one end whilst Rich NP formed the
foundation of the OLCC innings. On his way to fifty Rich shared partnerships
with Mickey Moss, Ackers and Will Budge. The rest of the batters succumbed
to tight bowling, high quality catching or poor shot selection. At the turn
skipper Ackers was even less impressed than he was at the start of the game
when given the team sheet.
The Incogs innings started carefully with the batsman latching on to any
width offered. Phil Samuels produced a jaffa to beat the edge of the
Whickman's bat and send the off-stump earthward before having Burns caught
at cover.
These were the only successes for the OLCC bowling line up as
opener Padhani and No.4 Gane saw the innings home at a canter and a gallop
respectively.
Needless to say the OLCC did not dwell for long on the size of
the defeat and adjourned to the Black Boy to do what we do best - banter.[With Mick's help we reckon we drank the fixture back. Ed.]PRS
