WOODY GETS SKIPPER'S JOB

18/01/01: Julian Wood (LP 1982-86) has been appointed captain of Berkshire CCC for 2001 after coach John Emburey departed to rejoin his former club Middlesex.

Woody, who played alongside David Gower and Robin Smith during his spell at Hampshire from 1989 to 1993, joined Berkshire in 1994 and topped the batting averages for the county last season, scoring 620 runs at an average of 51.66.
