08/09/02: The OLCC notched up their seventh win of the season with a five-wicket victory away to Moreton.
The hosts
batted first and declared at tea having made 194 for eight, with 18 runs coming
off the first over bowled by Geoff Samuels.
The OLCC reply was opened by Robert Stein and Jonny Shingles - the latter playing his 100th game for the club - and the pair made a cautious start, scoring 23 off the first 15 overs.
But the pace was picked up first by debutant Jon Dowdell, who made a dashing 41, then Ed Carter who contributed 21.
The winning hand was played by Nick Wood, who crashed a brilliant half-century to help the OLs over the winning line with five wickets remaining in the last over.
Shingles was presented with a bottle of champagne after the match in recognition of his major landmark.
And another statistical feat could be achieved at Roehampton next week - an OL victory would be the eighth of the season, equalling the record set in 1990.
