SKIPPER'S RALLYING CALL
19/02/03: Brewers Cup captain Paul Newell Price has named a provisional squad of 20 for the OLCC's first-round tie.
After successfully negotiating the same stage last year, hopes will be high of more OLCC glory when the side takes on Old Aldenhamians on Sunday 29 June.
The selection committee has named the following squad:
John Acland-Hood, Charles Allan, Oliver Ash, Dominic Beer, David Bibby, James Craig, Tom Gillmor, Nick Head, Paul Newell Price (capt), Richard Newell Price, Tom Rose, Geoff Samuels, Phil Samuels, Julian Shackel, Rahul Sharma, Jonathan Shingles, Ross Stewart, Michael Thomas, Jason Thomas, Julian Wood.
Skipper
Newell Price said on behalf of the selection committee: "The performance
of squad members will be monitored during the first
part of the season.
"Selectors
will be influenced by factors such as form, the amount of cricket being played
by individual players and bribes. The amount
of OL cricket being played could also influence final selection decisions.
"For those included in the squad of 20, the ball is in your court, or in your half of the wicket or something!
"For those left out of the twenty, please do not despair. Notable performances and athletic fielding could result in the ball falling into your court, especially if squad members drop or misplace theirs!
"All
members are invited to make their availability
known to the selection committee."
