TURKISH DELIGHT
29/05/03: Swashbuckling all-rounder Mike Thomas has revealed he will not be playing this season - because he's off to Turkey.
Thomas, who gave the Old Edmundians a stuffing in the Brewers Cup last year, is heading to the furthest corner of Europe where he can expect to roast in red-hot temperatures over the summer months.
And the beefy big-hitter, not renowned for getting ducks, reckons this season's Cup should not over-cook the goose as they prepare to fight for a place in the last eight - otherwise they could be like lambs to the slaughter.
He said: "I am going to be working in Turkey from May 24 and I will be there for 6 months, so I will unfortunately not be playing cricket at all this season unless I can find a local side.
"I am going somewhere called Marverde which is on the Bodrum peninsula on the south-west coast of the country.
"Good luck in the season, make sure you guys get past the second round this time, you need PMA*, Fire In The Belly, and you need to be little more relaxed. Don't get all hyped up before the game, maybe go for a couple of drinks the night before, just be calm."
In a touching finale, Thomas added: "Anyhow good luck, see you soon, all my love to everyone in the club."
