28/09/03: Records tumbled as the OLCC concluded the season with a four-wicket victory away at Holyport.
The home side won the toss and, having opted to bat first, failed to use their full 40-over allocation as they were bowled out for 155 with one ball remaining. Julian Shackel's 3-20 ensured he finished the season as leading wicket-taker, ahead of the wicketless Geoff Samuels (22) and Richard Newell Price (20).
Ed Carter and guests Rui Chugh and Ben Carter all chipped in with two wickets apiece, while wicket-keeper Tom Gillmor took the one catch he needed to record the most catches in a season for the club (13) in his 18th match of the year (also a record).
The OLCC reply began with a superb opening stand of 115 between Ben Carter (52) and John Acland-Hood, whose 54 took him to a total of 477 runs for the season - the most by any batsman in the history of the OLCC.
Both departed along with Nick Wood (10) and Graham Carter (6) before skipper Jonny Shingles (15no) and Ed Carter (9no) saw the OLs to their third successive win with 19 balls remaining.
