UNBEATEN RUN ENDS

25/06/05: Leighton Park beat the Old Leightonians by eight wickets to record their first win in the fixture since 1996.

Batting first, the OLs' innings never recovered after a bad start that saw them slip to 7 for three, although fighting knocks of 23 from Graham Carter, 37 by Tom Aylward, 25 from Phil Samuels and Matt McNaughton's lusty cameo of 15 not out at least helped them post a defendable total of 133 off 25.4 overs.

But that was to overlook a superb batting performance by the school, as Alex Wright (66 not out) and Will Denselow (43 not out) put on an unbroken stand of 70 to wrap up an eight-wicket success in the 26th over.

Phil Samuels claimed both the wickets to fall, taking him to 99 in total for the club.
