Q: Who will win the OLCC 2003 Fantasy League?
All-rounder Geoff Samuels is the favourite to win the 2003 Fantasy League, according to a survey of voters on the OLCC website.
The 'Bald Eagle', who was the second most expensive player in the list at a £43 bribe level, scooped 25% of the poll.
And the faith placed in him by the electorate appeared to be well-directed as he lay sixth in the Fantasy League table with a total of 175 points from the first two rounds.
In an exclusive interview with the OLCC website, Samuels admitted that the 'favourite' tag was one he believed he could live up to.
"The pressure's on," he said. "The expectations have been made and I feel I really have to perform now.
"However I feel confident in my selections and that the boys will come through for me."
Asked his reaction to being the OLCC's official Fantasy hero, he replied: "It's not new."
Trailing behind Samuels in second were Tom Gillmor and League chairman Chris Straw, who said: "Not being favourite to win the competition is a relief and I think it shows that the voters have utmost confidence in the integrity of the League. Which is nice."
Third place was shared by Paul Chalmers, John Acland-Hood, Jonny Shingles and Simon Best, the latter being a surprise choice given his non-participation in the league.
Meanwhile questions are likely to be asked in the Carter and Newell Price households after Graham and Tom Carter as well as Paul and Richard Newell Price suffered the indignity of losing their deposits, with one voter even preferring the 'someone else' option.
