Adlestrop vs OLCC
Described as a very experienced team, we took the field as possibly the oldest OLCC team ever. Two over 70s, 2 over 60s and three over 50s meant that we were certainly senior. We were bolstered by guests Sonny, Kristian and Will all making welcome returns to the side. Will in particular as he had last played for the OLCC at Hurlingham in Buenos Aires. Nick also joined us so we were able to fulfil the fixture.
On a slow wicket and still minus Dill (where is Adlestrop?) OLCC batted first and struggled on the damp surface. At 55 for 6 things looked bleak, but cometh the hour cometh the Smut Brothers. Phil and Geoff put on 51 for the eighth wicket getting us to a score of 123 which was probably 40 short of par. Phil in particular striking the ball cleanly to all corners of the ground.
Adlestrop opened with their first team opening pair on a wicket that had got easier to bat on. Sam Keen made 81 as Adlestrop strolled to victory despite Dill taking 3 wickets as they got to 125 for 5 in 23 overs.
Adlestrop win by 5 wickets
